You know those books that are so clearly begging for a Netflix adaptation, you can almost feel Ted Sarandos adding a wing to his summer home as you read them? There is perhaps no better recent example of this than Strangers<\/em>, Belle Burden\u2019s bestselling memoir<\/a> about the sudden collapse of her 20-year marriage. And on Wednesday, not only did the streamer announce that a Strangers<\/em> movie was, indeed, on its way\u2014with a script by What the Constitution Means to Me<\/em> playwright Heidi Schreck\u2014but it also confirmed that the project would star and be executive-produced by none other than Gwyneth Paltrow.<\/a><\/p>\n The role makes total sense for Paltrow for several reasons. Not only are she and Burden both very blonde and quite fancy<\/a>, but the Goop founder and on-again-off-again actor has played a major role in modern divorce discourse<\/a>. Besides, the film will follow Paltrow\u2019s celebrated appearance in Josh Safdie\u2019s Marty Supreme<\/em>, which cast her as a glamorous but disenchanted wife to a very wealthy man. (Hm!<\/em>)<\/p>\n If Marty Supreme<\/em> marked the first time in six years that Paltrow had made a major motion picture, Strangers<\/em> will mark the first time in more than a decade that she has had a leading role. (Her last was in the 2015 action-comedy Mordecai<\/em>.) Needless to say, we\u2019ll be keeping our eyes peeled for further developments. Long may the Paltrowaissance continue!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
