The idea is to choose shades of brown, blonde, red, or even beige that draw their tones directly from your skin\u2019s undertones<\/a>, creating a sense of continuity between the two.<\/p>\n \u201cUndertones are the foundation of everything I do. If you ignore them, the color will never sit right on the skin,\u201d says celebrity hairstylist Jacob Schwartz<\/a>. \u201cI am always looking at the warmth or coolness in my clients\u2019 complexion and building a tone that complements that.\u201d<\/p>\n Cole adds, \u201cI always tell clients to lean into tones that live in the same family as their skin for the best result.\u201d From warm caramel for golden skin tones to beiges and champagne blondes for lighter complexions, and deep browns for darker skin tones, this trend works best when tailor-made for the individual.<\/p>\n \u201cWith clients like Margot Robbie<\/a>, her \u2018gilded blonde\u2019 isn\u2019t stark against her skin\u2014it\u2019s soft at the root, diffused, and multi-tonal,\u201d Schwartz says. \u201cThat lower contrast creates a more seamless, natural effect that feels polished without trying too hard.\u201d<\/p>\n Both Cole and Schwartz agree that you shouldn\u2019t match your eyebrows<\/a> to your skin-toned hair, but they have different approaches for what you should do instead.
