Gird your loins! Excitement is at an all-time high for The Devil Wears Prada 2<\/em><\/a>, the forthcoming sequel of the 2006 hit movie starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep.<\/p>\n Earlier this morning in Tokyo, the two stars hit the red carpet for the film\u2019s first Asia premiere\u2014and naturally, they brought their finest fashions out for the affair. It is, after all, a high-fashion movie: The stakes are high, so Streep donned Matthieu Blazy\u2019s Chanel, while Hathaway donned a strapless, ruffle-skirted gown from Valentino\u2019s spring 2026 couture collection<\/a> (complete with Rockstud heels<\/a>). \u201cI\u2019m aware of the eyeballs on it,\u201d says stylist Erin Walsh, who is dressing Hathaway for the global press tour. \u201cBut I feel like I\u2019ve been training my whole life to do this. There\u2019s always pressure: It\u2019s what we do and what we love.\u201d<\/p>\n Walsh and Hathaway\u2019s fashion collaborations date back to 2019, so the duo were bound to bring out yet another epic wardrobe for the whirlwind DWP2<\/em> tour. It helps that the stylist also has a personal connection to the film: When the first Devil Wears Prada<\/em> came out back in 2006, Walsh was working at Vogue<\/em> for the legendary sittings editor Phyllis Posnick, so she is well-versed in the glamorous magazine world that both films are set in. \u201cIt was like watching a documentary,\u201d says Walsh. \u201cAll of the assistants at the office were talking about it\u2014and all of the bosses, too.\u201d<\/p>\n Hathaway in Valentino spring 2026 couture<\/p>\n <\/span>Photo: Getty Images<\/span><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n Flash-forward to a decade later, and now Walsh is tasked with cultivating another memorable array of sequel looks for Hathaway that feel chic, bold, yet still undeniably modern, too. \u201cIt\u2019s been an exercise of joy\u2014having the opportunity to tie in layers of Andy [Sachs] with Annie, and playing with all of the different designers,\u201d says Walsh, who also dressed Hathaway in Valentino for her campy Oscars skit<\/a> with Vogue<\/em>\u2019s Anna Wintour. \u201cBeing backstage at the Oscars with Annie and Anna as they were rehearsing their lines, I was like, \u2018Is this real<\/em>?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Walsh and Hathaway\u2019s press tour first kicked off in Mexico City<\/a> last week, when the star emerged wearing two distinctive statement looks. The first was a black fringed Schiaparelli dress with a sculptural gold belt. \u201cBeing at Frida Kahlo\u2019s house, we wanted to honor that fashion-as-art idea,\u201d says Walsh. \u201cThat felt really important. I liked the idea of starting in black to ground it.\u201d It is a timely sentiment given the upcoming Met Gala<\/a> theme.<\/p>\n Hathaway followed that up with a red sequined Stella McCartney frock, with leather thigh-high boots\u2014an homage to the leather Chanel boots her character Andy wears in the first film, of course. \u201cI wanted to honor the first film, and what Pat Field did with the costumes\u2014it was just such a great example of fashion storytelling, and really being unafraid to go to magical and unexpected places with it,\u201d says Walsh. \u201cBut we also wanted to look at how Annie\u2019s character has evolved 20 years later.
