The 2026 Met Gala<\/a>, \u201cCostume Art,\u201d is less than three weeks away, and we\u2019re waiting with bated breath to see attendees grace the Met steps. Top of mind are our esteemed co-chairs, Beyonc\u00e9<\/a>, Nicole Kidman<\/a>, and Venus Williams<\/a>, who will all offer their best interpretation of the evening\u2019s dress code, \u201cFashion is Art<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

We have a little habit here of sharing our red carpet wishlists<\/a>. Take them merely as a case of dream dress-up or a suggestion. So we did just that for our own 2026 Met Gala co-chairs.<\/p>\n

With a broad theme like \u201cCostume Art,\u201d which concerns itself with the dressed body in the Met\u2019s vast collection, there is runway inspiration abound. Perhaps the co-hosts could channel the Rococo and Baroque art movements in something regal from the Christian Lacroix archive, or lean into Moschino\u2019s campier interpretations. Or they can reference specific painters, like Yves Saint Laurent\u2019s ode to Picasso or Dilara Findikoglu\u2019s nod to Sandro Botticelli.<\/p>\n

The co-hosts could also lean into the body<\/em> of it all. While there is plenty of diaphanous dressing to choose from, there is a rich history of skewed proportions in fashion, from Comme des Gar\u00e7on\u2019s 1997 \u201clumps and bumps\u201d collection to Schiaparelli\u2019s body moldings from fall 2025.
