Model Adut Akech<\/a> is no stranger to the Met steps, but tonight marks her first time on the Met Gala red carpet<\/a> with a plus one: the model is officially full-term with her second baby. \u201cAs long as I get to the Met, this baby can decide to come anytime after that,\u201d Akech joked to Vogue<\/em> less than a week before the Met Gala<\/a>.<\/p>\n While Akech revealed her first pregnancy<\/a> with her daughter, Kiki, to Vogue<\/em> in 2024, her second has also proven itself a fashion-forward endeavor: In Vogue<\/em>\u2019s May issue, the model cradled her Loewe-draped bump for a \u201cCostume Art\u201d editorial<\/a>. Now, for the final fashionable act of her pregnancy, Thom Browne<\/a> has dreamt up a maternity Met Gala look just for her. \u201cI\u2019ve seen Thom in passing, but we\u2019ve never gotten to sit down and have a conversation or work closely with each other like this,\u201d she says. \u201cSo I\u2019m excited to just be in the same space with him.\u201d<\/p>\n Adut Akech at the 2026 Met Gala.<\/p>\n <\/span>Jamie McCarthy\/Getty Images<\/span><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n Browne created an organza bodysuit to suit Akech\u2019s ever-changing body, which he paired with a black silk taffeta overcoat. The designer also added some sweet personal touches, appliqu\u00e9ing the bodysuit with Lily of the Valley\u2014the birth flower for May. \u201cI\u2019m just really, really excited and I\u2019m grateful that there are people whose thoughtfulness goes to such an extent,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n Browne, for his part, was excited to help the model celebrate this exciting moment in her life. \u201cI wanted to create something that felt true to both myself and Adut, and worked for someone experiencing one of life\u2019s great miracles,\u201d the designer tells Vogue<\/em>. \u201cIt was important that the design gave nods to this moment in her life and really celebrated her strength and beauty.
