(Or, to quote our dearly departed Aretha Franklin: \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=fzPpZwSDcRo\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"text link\">Great gowns<\/a>, beautiful gowns.\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>Last night, the star hit the premiere of her new rom-com film <em>Office Romance<\/em> in Los Angeles, co-starring Brett Goldstein and Amy Sedaris\u2014and she chose a striking vintage number for her saunter down the step and repeat. Instead of rocking a brand-new custom creation, J.Lo chose an archival Atelier Versace dress from the label\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com\/fashion-shows\/spring-2004-couture\/versace\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"text link\">spring 2004 couture<\/a> collection. The intricate laser-cutting, crystal embellishments, and full skirt? Still, it was an intriguing choice to revive such a throwback frock, given the brand is currently in between head designers. (Donatella Versace <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com\/article\/donatella-versace-steps-off-the-runway-as-dario-vitale-is-appointed-versaces-new-creative-director\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"text link\">is now<\/a> an \u201cambassador\u201d for the house, while its last chief creative officer, Dario Vitale, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com\/article\/dario-vitale-to-exit-versace\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"text link\">left his post<\/a> in December.) With no <em>new-new<\/em> Versace to pull from, it makes sense that A-listers are digging into the past. J.Lo isn\u2019t the only one.<\/p>\n<p>This year, stars like Miley Cyrus, Blake Lively, and Anne Hathaway have all revived vintage Versace numbers on the red carpet\u2014pointing to a growing movement that, yes, it\u2019s bound to be a hot Versace summer. Most recently, Cyrus <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com\/article\/miley-cyrus-hollywood-walk-of-fame-star-versace\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"text link\">received her<\/a> Hollywood Walk of Fame star this month, wearing a strappy, bondage-inspired gown from Atelier Versace\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com\/fashion-shows\/fall-2015-ready-to-wear\/versace\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"text link\">fall 2015 collection<\/a>. While that show was only a decade ago, finding such a specific 2010s piece was clearly intentional and purposeful. And she made the vampy design look <em>good<\/em>.
