Resort season is a bit of a nebulous brief for designers, who are tasked with offering everything from pieces for tropical getaways to holiday parties and anything in between. But Andrea Lieberman isn\u2019t just concerned with the occasionwear. \u201cFor us, it just seems right\u2014in both business and customer\u2014leaning into wardrobing,\u201d she said. \u201cInstead of this collection that\u2019s very on the nose for this time of year, it\u2019s really built around pieces that will take you through the holiday season, but also through the rest of your life.\u201d<\/p>\n
The platonic ideal of occasionwear, for Lieberman, is suiting, and A.L.C.\u2019s latest offering is rife with menswear inspiration. A burgundy tux, when buttoned, is meant to be worn without anything underneath\u2014an added touch of sex appeal. Elsewhere, she marries a tuxedo jacket and a winter coat, which Lieberman emphasizes is \u201creally sick.\u201d Still, while she\u2019s her own best customer, Lieberman designs beyond her own interests. Take a white maxi dress with a plunging V-neck, ruching at the waist, and an open, draped sleeve. \u201cThis, for me, is one of those dresses that I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh, don\u2019t worry. I\u2019ll always have something to wear because I\u2019ve got this in my closet,\u2019\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Don’t worry: there’s plenty of casual fare in the offering, too\u2014slouchy jeans, lace-trimmed knit tanks\u2014but Lieberman is especially activated about her array of Milano knit hoodies. \u201cIt gives you that very sporty feeling, but in a really elevated way,\u201d she said. \u201cYou don\u2019t feel like you\u2019re wearing your kid\u2019s sweatshirt\u2014you feel like you\u2019re wearing something that is refined.\u201d Whether a party-ready tuxedo or an everyday hoodie, refinement is always the North Star.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
