Rihanna Updates Her Favorite (And Most Divisive) Bag in Paris

Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, and their family are back in Paris for the weekend. Heading out to Siena—one of Rihanna’s go-to dinner spots in the city—she sported a new addition to her enviable handbag archive.

The Fenty Beauty mogul opted for a head-to-toe oxblood look: she wore a distressed vintage Margiela fall winter 2000 tunic, a pair of Alaïa cotton cargo pants, and Tom Ford snake-finish burgundy pumps. When in the City of Light, Rih will always tote something from Dior, and this time, it was the debut of a Dracula graphic saddle bag. Adding the statement accessory to pop against the all-oxblood look felt considered, fun, and playful.

The Dracula book tote became celebrities’ buzziest bag after Jonathan Anderson’s first collections for Dior, with the literary styles snapped up by Jennifer Lawrence, Greta Lee, and Natalie Portman. Other versions include a Les Liaisons Dangereuses bag, but the turmeric yellow and scarlet red Dracula number has proven to be most popular. The saddle bag version (a shape popularized and remodeled often during John Galliano’s tenure at the house) has been less prominent, but leave it to Rihanna to christen the seasonal it-bag. In its shock of colors and loud telegraphing style, it’s definitely among the more divisive of bags—but on Rihanna, of course, it’s always going to work.
